Signed in April to set up a manufacturing unit
Regarding joint ventures in the military industry, the minister of the neighboring country said, ‘Those discussions are going on. The news of setting up a manufacturing unit to make small arms in the neighboring country first came in April. The arms production agreement was signed at a seminar organized on India-Sri Lanka defense cooperation.
India’s emphasis on defense equipment production
India has been promoting the production of defense equipment in recent years and has been supplying arms to other countries by manufacturing crores of rupees. Indian Ambassador to Colombo Santosh Jha in his address said that the Indian defense industry today offers sophisticated systems, advanced technology and world-class equipment.
Also focus on several advanced weapons
The Indian ambassador said, ‘It has built everything from fighter jets and helicopters to naval vessels to name a few. Apart from this, everything from electronic warfare systems to cyber security related equipment and small arms to big guns have been produced. Manufactures precision long-range artillery systems. He said that India is ready to make these capabilities available to our friendly partner countries like Sri Lanka.
