Another 74 people are reported injured, while 67 people are missing, according to Brazilian officials.
The situation has worsened due to heavy rains, floods and landslides in southern parts of Brazil. According to the State Defense Agency, 58 people have died so far due to the floods. While more than 74 people have been injured. More than 70 thousand people had to leave their homes due to floods.

Apart from this, 67 people are reported missing. The city of Porto Alegre in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state has been the worst affected by the floods. As many as 300 municipalities have been affected by the storm, which has hit the Rio Grande do Sul since Monday (April 28).

Dams in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state are in danger of collapsing due to rain. The Guaba River, which flows through the city, is at a record height of 5.04 meters, the highest since 1941. Rescue workers are finding it difficult to save people. Roads have collapsed and bridges washed away due to rushing water.
Rescue workers are trying to evacuate people to safer places, according to local officials. Porto Alegre Airport suspended flights indefinitely on Friday 3 May. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the coming days.
