According to the information, citing the State Security Service of Ukraine, two colonels have been arrested for planning the assassination of Zelenskiy. He is accused of leaking information to Russia. The State Security Service said they had foiled a larger plot to kill Zelensky.
What was the plan?
The State Security Service of Ukraine said that FSB agents were to find criminals in the army involved in the protection of the president, who could take the country’s president hostage and then kill him. He said the assassination plan was also intended to target other senior Ukrainian officials, including Security Service chief Vasyl Malyuk and Ukraine’s defense intelligence chief Kirill Budanov.
There was a conspiracy to kill earlier too
Earlier in August-2023, a woman from the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv was arrested in connection with a plot to kill Zelensky. According to reports, the woman was accused of gathering intelligence about Zelensky’s visit to Mykolaiv so that Russia could launch an air strike against the Ukrainian president.
