The third space flight of Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams is far from over. The decision was made to abort the mission just 90 minutes before the spacecraft was due to take off due to a technical glitch. The new launch date has not been announced yet
Space travel was halted due to a technical glitch
Sunita Williams was scheduled to go on her third space journey on Tuesday morning. Sunita was scheduled to take off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Cornwall, Florida at 8 am IST on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. But 90 minutes into the spacecraft’s flight, scientists noticed a technical fault in the spacecraft’s oxygen valve. So the flight was stopped. Along with Sunita Williams, NASA scientist Barry Wilmore was also scheduled to board a Boeing spacecraft to the International Space Station.

Sunita Williams has spent a record 322 days in space. She holds the record for the most hours of spacewalk by a woman. Williams first went into space on 9 December 2006 and remained in space until 22 June 2007. Sunita Williams spacewalked four times for a record 29 hours and 17 minutes. Sunita Williams then went on a second spacewalk on 14 July 2012 and remained in space until 18 November 20212. Williams, 59, said she was a little nervous before the flight. But at the same time she was excited about the excitement of flying in space. Williams said the International Space Station is like a second home to him.
