Russia has launched an airstrike in northwestern Syria that has killed 13 people. The attacks have been carried out in areas held by insurgent groups. Many large markets were also involved in this. The attack is said to be the biggest in Syria this year. Among those who lost their lives in the attack were 9 civilians, including 2 children.
According to reports, most of the people were killed in a fruit and vegetable market in Jisr al-Shugur in Idlib region. Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, called the attack the deadliest attack in Syria this year and amounted to a genocide.
Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene
Saad, 35, who survived the attack, described the horrific scene of the attack. Saad, a laborer by profession, told how he tried his best to save the injured after the attack. He was unloading tomatoes and cucumbers from the car at the time of the attack. It was then that the Russian army started firing on them. It was all over in no time. There was shouting everywhere. Bloody people were lying on the road.
People fell on the road covered in blood
Saad said that he provided all possible help to save the injured. His hands are still stained with blood. Dead bodies and wounded were seen everywhere screaming in pain. At the same time, another person said that black plumes of smoke were also visible from many places. Meanwhile, an ambulance also reached the spot and immediately took the injured to the hospital.
Two separate attacks
Giving information, Abdel Rahman said that the attack was carried out in two different places. Russian airstrikes in Jisr al-Shugur killed 6 civilians plus 3 rebels. Another attack took place on the outskirts of Idlib city. 3 civilians and one insurgent were killed in the attack.
