Chinese billionaire and co-founder of Alibaba Group Jack Ma suddenly went on a trip to Pakistan. This caused a stir in Pakistan. According to an Express Tribune report, former Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) Muhammad Azfar Ahsan has confirmed Jack Ma’s visit to Pakistan.
Reached Pakistan from Nepal by chartered flight
Former BOI chairman Muhammad Azfar Ahsan said that Jack Ma reached Lahore on June 29 and stayed for 23 hours. Jack Ma avoided talking to government officials and the media during the visit. Jack Ma was staying at a private place. After this, he returned to Jet Aviation on 30 June in a private jet named VP-CMA.
The purpose of Jack Ma’s visit is secret
Quoting the former BOI chairman, the purpose of Jack Ma’s visit is confidential, but it is expected that there will be positive results for Pakistan in the coming days. Jack Ma was accompanied by a delegation of seven businessmen, including five Chinese nationals, one Danish national and one American national. He reached Pakistan from Nepal by a chartered flight from Hong Kong’s commercial aviation sector. There are various speculations on social media that Jack Ma and his team are looking for business opportunities in Pakistan.
Not even the Chinese government knows
Jack Ma is believed to have visited the business centers of Pakistan. Also held a meeting with leading industrialists and officials of various chambers of commerce. However, there has been no confirmation of any kind of deal or meeting. Ahsan clarified in a tweet that Jack Ma’s visit was purely for personal purposes. Interestingly, even the Chinese embassy was not aware of Jack Ma’s visit and events in the country, he said.
