Thousands of Koreans took to the streets in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. Over the weekend, people staged an anti-American march. Protesters chanted slogans, vowing a “war of revenge” to destroy the United States. State media reported Monday that people marched to mark the 73rd anniversary of the start of the Korean War.

North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency reported that more than 120,000 people took part in Sunday’s mass rallies in Pyongyang. According to the report, North Koreans at the rally carried signs that read “The entire US mainland is within our shooting range” and “Imperialist America is a destroyer of peace.”

The 1950–53 conflict began with a surprise attack by North Korea, with protesters gathered in Pyongyang promoting their government’s events and accusing the United States of waging war and provoking the Korean people. He was accused of inflicting “wounds” that would never heal.

Meanwhile, in South Korea, a North Korean defector-turned-activist said he had flown nearly 200,000 balloons containing anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets and Covid-19 medical supplies across the border on Sunday night. His years of campaigning continued to be criticized at times. There have been fierce reactions from the North and pictures sent by Park Sang-hak show a placard with a picture of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and a message explaining how his grandfather Kim Il Sung was responsible for starting the Korean War.
