A horrific road accident took place in Kenya on Friday. 48 people died in this accident while many people were injured. This terrible accident happened in the evening in western Kenya. The police said that the place where the accident took place is a very densely populated area. Here a truck went out of control and crushed other vehicles and pedestrians.
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot. Police said that so far we have recovered 48 dead bodies. It is suspected that one or two people are trapped inside the truck. Footage and videos of the incident have also been shared on social media. It shows wrecked minibuses and overturned trucks along with pieces of other vehicles.
Accident on Kericho-Nakuru highway
Rescuers were searching for people suspected to be trapped inside the vehicles. Police said the accident happened on the Kericho and Nakuru town highways. 30 people have been seriously injured in this incident. They have been admitted to different hospitals. However, it is being said that the death toll may still rise.
The truck suddenly lost control
Regional Police Commander Tom Moboya Odero said the truck, which was heading towards Kericho, suddenly lost control. He then ran over 8 vehicles, several motorcycles, people standing on the roadside, hawkers and people involved in other businesses.
President William Ruto expressed grief
Many leaders, including Kenyan President William Ruto, expressed grief over the tragedy. The incident took place around 6.30 am. The transport minister said that the cause of the accident will be known after the rescue operation and an investigation will be carried out.
