The Canadian government has taken a big step for American H-1B visa holders. An open work permit stream will now be created by the Canadian government to allow American H-1B visa holders to come and work in Canada. Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser made this announcement.
According to an official report, Canada’s Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship said that work permits will also be provided to family members of H-1B visa holders under this program. According to the announcement made by the Government of Canada, under the new decision, the applicant who will be selected will be given an open work permit for three years. The ministry said that American visa holders can work anywhere and for any company in Canada. Family members such as spouses and dependents are also eligible to apply for a temporary resident visa with a work or study permit as per their need.
Canada’s doors open to talent: Fraser
Immigration Minister Fraser said that by the end of this year, the Canadian government will develop an immigration stream for talented people who want to come to Canada to work in technology companies. However, the Immigration Minister has not yet clarified who will be eligible for this immigration stream and how many people will be admitted to this stream.
The US H-1B visa allows foreign nationals to work in the US temporarily in certain occupations, including the technology sector. During the corona epidemic, large-scale recruitment was done by technology companies, but after the completion of the corona period, a large number of people were also fired from their jobs. Due to this, H-1B visa holders have faced great difficulty in finding new jobs.
