An Indian ex-soldier working with the United Nations was killed in Gaza. He was a staff member of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. The identity of the victim is yet to be released sources confirmed to PTI that he was from India and was an ex-serviceman of the Indian Army. An Indian ex-soldier died in Gaza on Monday
An Indian ex-soldier working with the United Nations died in Gaza on Monday. In fact, the vehicle he was traveling in was attacked in Rafa. This is being called the organization’s ‘first international’ loss since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict. The deceased was a staff member of the Indian United Nations Department of Defense and Security (DSS). However, the victim’s identity has not been released yet. confirmed to PTI that the deceased was an ex-serviceman of the Indian Army.

A UN vehicle transporting a European hospital to Rafah was hit, injuring another DSS worker. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is saddened to learn of the death of a UN Department of Safety and Security (DSS) employee and the injury of another DSS employee.

A statement issued by the secretary-general’s deputy spokesman, Farhan Haque, said Guterres condemned all attacks on UN personnel and called for a thorough investigation. Guterres expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased staff member. “The impact of the conflict in Gaza continues,” the statement said. The Secretary-General reiterates his urgent appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the release of all hostages. About 190 United Nations troops have been killed in Gaza since October 7. Most of them are national staff of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA.
