Diwali 2023 Holiday New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently returned from a trip to America. During his visit to America, the US announced the opening of consulates in Ahmedabad and Bangalore. After which America gave another big gift to Indians. Giving importance to the culture of Indians living in New York, the administration here has included Diwali in the list of public holidays for schools. City Mayor Eric Adams made the announcement. He said the decision was taken keeping in mind the South Asian and Indian Caribbean community in the city. However, Diwali is falling on a Sunday this year.
New York Mayor Eric Adams tweeted about the holiday on Monday. Eric said that from now on Diwali, the festival of lights, will be a holiday in New York City schools. Assembly Member Jennifer Rajkumar, along with other community leaders, helped me decide on the Diwali holiday. It’s a little early to say but Happy Diwali anyway.

Mayor Eric Adams further added that there is no need to feel insecure anymore. You are a part of this city. You will not be treated as an outsider. New York is for everyone. We don’t care where you come from. New York Assembly Member Jennifer Rajkumar has congratulated the people by tweeting. He said that it was a matter of pride for me to fight for the new law with the mayor.

Governor not yet signed
However, the bill has yet to be signed by Governor Kathy Hochul. But the mayor says he’s confident the governor will sign the bill. The Diwali holiday will replace Brooklyn-Queens Day on the calendar. According to foreign media, New York schools have been offering Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays since 2015.
More than 2 lakh people celebrate Diwali in New York
Diwali is one of the major festivals of India. Diwali holiday has been declared in many cities of the world and now the name of America’s New York has been included in this list. This year the festival of Diwali falls on November 12. Today is Sunday. According to New York City officials, more than 2 lakh people celebrate Diwali in the city. These people include Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists.
