- Taj Mohammad and Sardar Manohar Singh were separated by Indo-Pak partition
- After the advent of social media, the hope of meeting old friends arose
- Both friends decided to meet at Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara
The partition of India-Pakistan in 1947 separated many families and friends. Those who witnessed that era with their own eyes still have many horrible memories in their minds. People who have crossed the border, be it India or Pakistan, still respect their homeland. There have also been many cases where people reunited with their family or friends after a long time or traveled to another country to visit their ancestral home. Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is playing a major role in bringing the separated people where many families from India and Pakistan have been reunited so far. One such recent case is the meeting between Taj Mohammad and Sardar Manohar Singh. The temple management has shared this story.
Reportedly, Taj Mohammad and Sardar Manohar Singh were friends before partition but all ended after the borders were drawn. But many years later, when social media arrived, there was hope of meeting old friends. The two connected on a social media platform and after many years this friendship rekindled and the two decided to meet. Mohammad now lives in Okara Punjab Pakistan but still remembers the soil of his birthplace Jalandhar.
Village soil from a friend
When the two friends decided to meet at the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara, Mohammad asked his friend to bring soil from the village. When the two friends met, Singh brought them clay as a gift. This shows that the soul of the person born in the soil resides in it. The Project Management Unit of the Gurdwara informed that Taj Mohammad of Okara (Pakistan) met Sardar Manohar Singh who came from his native village Jalandhar (India) through the Kartarpur Corridor.
‘Kartarpur Corridor introduced me to a friend’
According to officials, Mohammed and Singh were overjoyed to meet each other. He thanked the government and PMU Kartarpur for meeting him after 75 years. The Kartarpur Corridor has reconnected me with my friend and the soil of Jalandhar, said Mohammad. In the past too, many such talks of visiting Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara have come up.
