Brazil is currently grappling with natural disasters. Rio Grande do Sul state in southern Brazil has been flooded by torrential rains over the past week. Around 100 people have died due to this flood. 14.5 lakh people have been affected by the floods. Two lakh people have had to leave their homes. According to figures from Brazil’s Civil Defense Agency, 99,800 houses have been partially or completely destroyed so far due to floods and rains.

Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil has been experiencing heavy rains since April 29. So 414 out of 497 cities in the state are struggling with floods. This state is Brazil’s top agricultural and pastoral state. The state, located on the border of Argentina and Uruguay, has been battling heavy rains and raging floods. According to an estimate, economic losses of around 4.6 billion riyals are being caused by these rains and floods. In addition, more housing and basic infrastructure have been damaged.
According to the information, more than 130 people are still missing. The Met office has yet to forecast rain. So the situation is likely to worsen. Rivers and lakes are completely filled due to rain. Apart from this, the city of Porto Alegre has been hit hard by the floods.
