- New Tughlaqi decree for suppression of minorities
- Claiming that the celebration of Holi is contrary to the social and cultural values of the country
- Students are prohibited from celebrating this festival
In Pakistan, the oppression of the minority community, including the Hindus, has continued. Along with Ahmadiyya Muslims, the Hindu and Sikh communities are also regularly harassed by fundamentalist elements in Pakistan. Now Pakistan has started a new plan to maintain its Islamic identity. Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission has issued a Tughlaqi Farman and the Commission’s order has raised concerns about religious freedom in the country. A new order by the Higher Education Commission has imposed a ban on celebrating Holi in educational institutions across the country.
As reported by Pakistani media group Aaj News, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan had said in its order that such activities (celebration of Holi) are completely disconnected from the social and cultural values of the country. Having such a celebration is tantamount to alienating the Islamic identity of the country. The announcement of the commission has mentioned that students are prohibited from celebrating this festival in order to follow the socio-cultural values of Pakistan.
