- Australian woman MP sexually harassed
- Woman MP dosed with drug during night out
- The next day, the medical examination revealed that drugs had been given
An incident of sexual harassment with a woman MP of Australia has come to light. Queensland MP Brittany Lauga has claimed she was drugged and sexually assaulted during a night out.
The incident took place last Saturday, March 27 in his constituency Yeppoon. The Assistant Health Minister said in an Instagram post that he reported the matter to the police on the morning of April 28, after which he underwent a medical test. The MP said the investigation confirmed the drug in his body, though he had not consumed it. This substance had a great effect on him.
The female MP gave information on social media
“This can happen to anyone and sadly it happens to a lot of us,” Brittany said. The 37-year-old Australian MP said he had been approached by several women who had been drugged and sexually assaulted in Yeppoon on Saturday night. Many such women have shared similar experiences with women MPs.
The police started an investigation
“This is not fair. We should be able to enjoy social interaction in our city without fear of drugs or harassment,” Lauga said. The police have started an investigation in the case of molestation of a woman MP. Queensland Police said they were investigating a complaint of sexual assault in Yeppoon. He adds that no other incidents have been reported in the area, but anyone with information is urged to contact police.
Housing Minister said ‘Terrible’
Queensland Housing Minister Megan Scanlon described what happened to Brittany Lauga as shocking and horrifying. “Brittany is a colleague, a friend and a young woman in the Queensland Parliament, and these are truly amazing things to read,” Scallon said. “Domestic, family and sexual violence against women is unacceptable. Our government will continue to make every possible effort to protect women and prevent violence,” he said.
