A total of 330 people have died so far in neighboring Afghanistan due to devastating floods following heavy rains. While in northern Baghlan province, more than a thousand houses have been razed to the ground due to floods. UNO said on Saturday that torrential rains have hit Afghanistan in the past few weeks, with the worst floods in the country’s northern region.
On Saturday, 60 people were killed in the worst-hit Baghlan province. According to the information received, more than 20 people died in neighboring Takhar province. A spokesperson for the Taliban government said in a statement on social media that hundreds of people have been killed and a large number of people injured in the devastating floods.
Afghanistan’s system went into rescue work
Badakhsha, Baghlan, Ghor and Herat were mentioned as the worst affected by the floods. The government ordered all resources to be used to evacuate the injured and find the bodies to save the people. Apart from this, the Ministry of Defense said that the country’s Air Force has started the work of transporting people to safe places in Badhlan. A large number of people trapped in the flood have been rescued and the injured have been shifted to an army hospital.
