Florida Panthers supporters are unlikely to argue with the effects of mentor Paul Maurice’s very first two seasons with the team— which have equally ended in Eastern Conference titles.
However, strictly viewed from a normal period standpoint, it is true that the Panthers ended up greater in 2022 than in both of the subsequent two seasons. In truth, Florida’s 58-18-6 document in ’22 is its best ever by stage proportion.
On Friday, Maurice self-deprecatingly acknowledged this in advance of Match 1 of the Stanley Cup finals Saturday involving the Panthers and Edmonton Oilers.
“I confirmed up listed here and they experienced 122 details,” Maurice said. “I managed to get them down to 92 in a single year. Brilliance.”
Florida hired Maurice in June ’22 to swap Andrew Brunette, who had taken over from Joel Quenneville just after his resignation.
This will mark Maurice’s third visual appearance in the Stanley Cup finals he led the Carolina Hurricanes to the Jap Convention title in 2002.
