Saturday’s sport amongst the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky was supposed to be a celebration of the WNBA’s most heralded rookie class ever, with Fever guard Caitlin Clark squaring off towards Sky ahead Angel Reese and heart Kamilla Cardoso.
Although still a memorable game—Indiana won 71–70—it became nonetheless one more unfortunate referendum on Clark’s status during the league.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Chicago guard Chennedy Carter slammed into Clark on an inbounds go and was referred to as for an off-ball foul.
