WASHINGTON — A host from Alex Jones’ conspiracy theory mongering InfoWars on Friday pleaded guilty to storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Owen Shroyer admitted that he unlawfully entered and remained on restricted grounds through the riot, telling the court that he entered the West Entrance of the Capitol and stood on stacks of chairs and other products with another person, believed to be InfoWars founder Alex Jones — . He explained he then made his way to the East Facet of the Capitol.
“Us residents are ready to struggle,” Shroyer advised a crowd collected at Liberty Plaza for a rally in guidance of then-President Donald Trump on Jan. 5, 2021, in accordance to his affidavit. “We’re not guaranteed what that’s likely to look like perhaps in a few of months if we are unable to quit this certification of the fraudulent election of Joe Biden.”
Shroyer also named rallygoers “the new revolution” and said they would “restore” and “help you save the republic.”
On Jan. 6, 2021, he took a bullhorn and compared the crowd of rioters to American patriots fighting in 1776, stating: “Nowadays, on January 6, we declare demise to tyranny! Dying to tyrants! Death to tyrants! Dying to tyrants!”
Shroyer is dealing with up to six months in federal jail, and a sentencing listening to has been established for September 12th at 10 a.m.
