Elements of Broward County, Florida, are under quarantine just after a big African land snail — explained as “just one of the most detrimental snails in the world” — was detected previously this thirty day period, agriculture authorities claimed.
Officials “confirmed the detection” of the snail in the Miramar space of Broward County on June 2 following a report to the Florida Division of Agriculture and Shopper Companies.

Metaldehyde is a pesticide applied to handle snails and slugs, which functions by disrupting mucus generation and in flip makes them susceptible to dehydration, the FDACS stated in a release.
“Snails and slugs that have eaten metaldehyde typically look for hiding places, turn into inactive and start out to die within days,” the section said.
