The Section of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Oklahoma, hard a condition regulation which imposes criminal penalties on unlawful immigrants.
The DOJ argued that enforcing immigration legislation is a federal subject and Oklahoma “cannot disregard the U.S. Structure and settled Supreme Courtroom precedent.”
Final 7 days, Oklahoma Attorney Typical Gentner Drummond vowed to uphold the legislation and accused the Biden administration of becoming “‘committed’ to subverting the immigration regulations of this state.”

“We have brought this action to assure that Oklahoma adheres to the Structure and the framework adopted by Congress for regulation of immigration,” Principal Deputy Assistant Legal professional General Brian M. Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division stated in a statement.
