Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced his state will not be employing adjustments to Title IX protections propagated by President Biden’s administration.
Abbott, in a letter despatched to the White Dwelling on Monday, rebuked the Biden administration’s growth of Title IX protections to protect “gender identity.”
“Title IX was created by Congress to assistance the development of girls academically and athletically,” the letter states. “The law was primarily based on the basic premise that there are only two sexes — male and female. You have rewritten Title IX to force colleges to take care of boys as if they were being girls and to settle for just about every student’s self-declared gender identification.”

The letter continued, “This ham-handed effort and hard work to impose a leftist belief on to Title IX exceeds your authority as President. I am instructing the Texas Instruction Company to overlook your illegal dictate.”
The Biden administration unveiled the new guidelines before this month to handle considerations expressed by LGBTQ+ groups about gender identification protections.

Texas is not alone in opposition to the Title IX updates — state officers from Florida, Oklahoma, Ga, and elsewhere have expressed intentions to legally challenge the federal govt on applying the protections.
