The Notebook marks the second 2004 Rachel McAdams motion picture to turn into a Broadway musical immediately after Necessarily mean Women.

Rachel McAdams is now generating her Broadway debut in Mary Jane, a new enjoy by Amy Herzog, currently in previews at the Friedman Theatre. And coincidentally, just a several blocks away, one of McAdams’s most famed videos, The Notebook, has also designed it to the Excellent White Way. The stage adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel commenced performances in February.
In advance of Mary Jane’s opening on April 23 (a missed chance not to have it open up just three times earlier), McAdams spoke with Broadway.com’s Paul Wontorek about the serendipitous timing, contacting it “crazy.” It is also seemingly triggered some slight confusion, like for her friend’s mom, who believed she’d be observing McAdams sing and dance. “He was like, ‘Um, I do not consider you have the correct display.’”
Alternatively than McAdams reprising her role, The Notebook’s cast characteristics three pairs of actors who portray Noah and Allie more than the decades, but like movie, rain nonetheless performs a important function. “I just can’t hold out to see it. I feel it is so enjoyable to see it consider on a whole other life like this. It blows my thoughts,” McAdams reported, before remembering what it was like filming the movie’s legendary rain scene, “It was a genuinely powerful, stinging rain, so ideally it is a small little bit gentler [on stage]. In which does it go?” With Mary Jane sharing a practically equivalent overall performance plan, there may well be some waiting included, but which is fairly on-manufacturer for The Notebook.
