State tunes legend Toby Keith’s young children ended up brought to tears in the course of a heartfelt tribute to their late dad at the 2024 CMT Tunes Awards.
The “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” singer, who died in February at age 62, was honored through Sunday night’s broadcast as singers Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar, and Lainey Wilson just about every paid out their respects with renditions of his tunes.
The musicians performed hits like “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “I Adore This Bar” and “How Do You Like Me Now?!” at the ceremony, which took put at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
Keith, who died pursuing a struggle with belly cancer, was also honored with a sequence of poignant speeches made by his longtime close friends and fellow singers.

In other places, Willie Nelson’s son Lukas, who played in Keith’s band, was joined by singer Riley Inexperienced to say a number of words and phrases about the late icon.
“Toby was not a shy male. He had a large temperament,” stated Nelson, 35. “I met him when I was youthful when he was doing the job on ‘Beer for My Horses’ with my dad. I got blessed I acquired the prospect to look at his artistry in human being.”
