The TOWIE cast then vs now: From dangerous Brazilian butt lifts, addictions to lip filler and boob jobs: A look at the reality stars’ dramatic transformations

The TOWIE cast have just returned from Bali after a drama filled few weeks among the palm trees.  

And as the series returns to Essex, the latest instalment promises scandalous feuds, unexpected romance and even more drama.

This series marks a special one, as original cast member Lauren Goodger has returned, marking her first appearance on the show since her departure in 2016. 

Looking rather different to her first appearance on the show back in 2010, Lauren is by no means the only TOWIE star partial to a dramatic cosmetic tweakment or plastic surgery procedure. 

And as fans get stuck into the new series, MailOnline takes a look at the TOWIE’s best transformations, as we explore their evolving looks and obsessions with injectables.

Lauren Goodger

Lauren Goodger has rejoined the TOWIE cast, after finding fame on the show as one of the original cast members part of the 2010 line up. 

Over the years the star, 37, has been in and out of the series after she left the show in 2012 following her break up from long-term partner Mark Wright, who is now married to Michelle Keegan. 

She returned for a brief appearance in 2016, however last year it was reported that Lauren would be rejoining the show after deciding it was the right time for her to return to the spotlight.  

Revealing how it feels being back on the programme, Lauren told MailOnline: ‘It’s like I never left! It’s different this time round obviously because I’m a mum but it’s like learning how to drive, you never forget once you’re back in the driving seat!

Lauren has always been candid about the many enhancements she has undergone, after previously admitting to a rhinoplasty in 2011 to fix her broken nose following an accident. 

She also underwent a breast augmentation surgery, transforming her 34D chest size to 34E in 2013. 

Last year, Lauren also admitted she had had a Brazilian bum lift back in 2017, but wanted to get rid of it. 

The TV personality explained how she jetted off to Turkey for a BBL and described it as ‘the worst experience’ of her life.

Lauren said she was desperate to have a ‘natural bum’ again but isn’t sure how to go about getting it as ‘there isn’t a procedure that can reverse the BBL’.

She added: ‘I’m not sure how I’m going to do that yet. I’m not sure if there is a procedure that can reverse the BBL. I’m looking into potentially getting the fat sucked out, but I don’t know if that’s an option. I’m going to speak to lots of different surgeons and figure out my options.’

Meanwhile the star is also no stranger to lip filler. In February 2023 she underwent the same ‘butterfly effect’ filler technique as Katie Price as she showed off her new pout. 

She explained at the time: ‘I’ve just had the butterfly effect lip fillers by Lift Aesthetics, I’ve got the tape on at the minute so I’m talking really weird.

‘I’m very swollen but literally a new technique, it’s so amazing and I can’t wait to see the results.’

Amy Childs 

Amy Childs proudly boasted of her enhanced cleavage when she entered the show after undergoing plastic surgery at the tender age of 18. 

The reality star, 33, has had two boob jobs, botox, lip fillers, liposuction and veneers, completely transforming her look over the years. 

However, Amy, who now has four children Polly, five, Ritchie, four, and twins Billy and Amelia, 12 months, has now ditched cosmetic surgery after admitting she looked ‘like a freak’.

She told The Sun in 2022: ‘I have not had cosmetic surgery for a long time now, and, for me, being a mum you totally change the way you look at things. 

‘Back in the day on TOWIE you ended up getting obsessed with your looks, but now I am 32 this year and in a completely different mindset.

‘I am really happy in me now. I haven’t got the size 8 body that I used to have, however, I have two lovely children, and that’s all I care about, so I am very happy in myself.’

In her teens, Amy boosted her bust by three sizes, going from an A-cup to a D-cup, before jumping to a 30EE for a second boob job at the age of 23.

In May 2019, the mother-of-two underwent an eight-hour operation after experiencing pain in her chest following a rupture in her left implant, and a month later, doctors discovered a lump had formed in her breast tissue from leakage.

The star – who spent a week in hospital during the ordeal – has since downsized her breast implants from an EE cup to a C cup.

Sophie Kasaei 

After making her name on the original series of Geordie Shore, Sophie Kasaei joined TOWIE in 2023 after she began dating cast member Jordan Brooks. 

The star, 34, has admitted that appearing on the show left her feeling insecure about her appearance and she caved in to surgery after being offered free procedures abroad including a boob job and Brazilian Bum Lift (the second of which she had in a run-down hospital in Turkey).

She also developed an addiction to lip fillers, revealing one time the process went wrong and she was left looking like ‘the elephant man.’ 

In 2022 she underwent a breast reduction to bring her E-cup assets down to a C-cup as well as a a reverse tummy tuck and corrective work to her Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL) procedure.

Last month, Sophie revealed she ‘almost died’ after undergoing the botched BBL in Turkey when she was 24-years-old.

The star admitted she was promised a ‘Kim Kardashian figure’, but instead suffered ‘agonising’ repercussions due to the botched surgery.

The TV personality suffered a life-threatening abscess which led to her having emergency surgery to drain one litre of puss on her left bumcheek. 

She told her followers: ‘After the healing process, six weeks or eight weeks later, I started getting a pain in my left bum cheek and I was in agony.’ 

Sophie was on holiday in Mexico at the time, and headed straight to hospital where she was put on a drip. ‘They were saying they was an abscess in their and if that burst, you would be dead.’

Once back home in Newcastle, she had to go straight to hospital to have the abscess drained. 

She explained: ‘They drained one litre of puss. It was so traumatic. Getting it packed was the worst pain in the world – I screamed the hospital down.

‘It was just hell. I felt ill, I couldn’t walk, my whole leg was numb. I couldn’t even sit on it. It was just absolute agony.

‘Eventually the wound healed but was forming this horrendous scare which was leaving this shark-type scare.’

Amber Turner

Amber Turner is also no stranger to cosmetic procedures after undergoing a boob job, lip filler, veneers and a 3D non-surgical bum lift. 

In 2017 Amber boosted her cleavage from a B cup to a D cup, as she branded the surgery ‘the best decision of her life’.

Speaking about the procedure, she said: ‘Last year I had my boob job and I went from a B to a D and it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

‘I think if there’s something you want to change, you shouldn’t feel bad about having surgery. It’s made me so much more confident and it’s made me so much happier.’ 

However Amber, 30, is also leaving her fake ways behind, after she revealed in 2022 that she now wants to ‘look more natural’ and now focuses more on protecting herself from wrinkles.

She said: ‘I have a few eyelashes in. I don’t have much done anymore. I have natural eyelashes. I used to get really thick eyelashes but now that’s it. I don’t do much.

‘I make sure I have sun cream. I am covered in factor 50. I wear it every day on my face. I have a moisturizer which has factor 50 in. Hopefully I am not going to look haggared by age of 30.’

The star has also ditched the filler as she stated: ‘I don’t get filler. I have had my lips dissolved. I want to look more natural.’

Harry Derbridge

Harry, 30, was first introduced to the series via his cousin Amy Childs, becoming TOWIE’s first openly gay cast member. 

And while the reality star has faced accusation of cosmetic procedures, in 2020 Harry hit back at trolls commenting on his weight gain as he explained he had overcome a ‘terrible eating disorder’. 

Harry returned to TOWIE for the 10th anniversary celebrations in 2020, and the star was forced to take to Twitter as he confirmed he had not undergone Botox, only some lip filler. 

He penned: ‘Honestly… I won’t say this again, I haven’t had any filler or Botox in my face, the only thing I have had done is a tiny bit of lip filler… so can we all stop comparing 16 year old harry to 26 year old harry. It actually makes me laugh…

‘And to the saying ‘I’ve piled on the pounds’ the answer is… yes I have, I went through a terrible eating disorder and I have worked so hard on myself to over come it over the years, and honestly… I think I look better then ever’.

In 2017, Harry shared an emotional post about the transformation his body has gone through, revealing he weighed just seven stone at one point. 

In a lengthy message, Harry explained: ‘My journey with an eating disorder was a struggle and I know I’m not a muscle pump up pete now but where I am right now I have never felt and looked better in myself.

‘The image on the left aged 16 I was 7 stone and very unhealthy and could go a day without eating, I also had a fear of food which can be diagnosed as a ‘food phobia’.

Dani Imbert 

Dani Imbert also suffered complication as a result of her BBL, after she revealed she was left at ‘death’s door’ following the procedure.

Talking to OK! magazine following her operation, she described how she was left ‘crying everyday’ and ‘swollen for weeks’.

Dani, who joined the TOWIE cast in 2021, said: ‘I didn’t realise how long the recovery was. You can’t sit down after having it done.

‘I was lying on my front or kneeling for eight weeks and couldn’t even put on my shoes or socks for six weeks.’

But Dani, 26, has confessed she loves her new look, saying that she just ‘wanted a bit more meat on my bottom half’.

The star has also undergone nose filler, cheek filler, veneers and a breast augmentation.

After posting details of her boob job on Instagram, Dani was met with a huge backlash, as fans accused her of promoting the procedure. 

Snapping back, Dani took to her Instagram Story as she said: ‘I’m pretty sure I’m not the first girl in the world that’s had their boobs done, so I don’t understand why people are so outraged by me getting my boobs done.’

Junaid  Ahmed

Junaid Ahmed joined TOWIE in 2022 and is, by his own admission, no stranger to cosmetic surgery.

He has undergone a rhinoplasty, a nose job, surgery on his chin and his hairline and veneers — all in Turkey.

The reality TV star, 29, shared his £10,000 cosmetic surgery results in a birthday snap on Instagram to his 67,000 followers in December 2022.

Boasting over his transformation, he captioned the post: ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME… New nose, new chin, new hairline.’

He told the Secure The Insecure showbiz podcast that his nose ‘needed to be fixed’ because of a vicious attack he endured at the hands of bullies as a teenager, adding they ‘broke my nose in three different places’.

He said: ‘When I was younger, I was so horrifically bullied in school. I was attacked on a few occasions, and the bullies broke my nose in three different places.

‘This wasn’t something I just thought out, because I’ve had a lot of comments like, “Oh, he’s just come on reality TV, and he’s getting his nose”. Far from the point.

‘This is years of torment that I had to go through, and I’ve had breathing issues since the age of 16, when my nose was broken by the bullies.’
