Ready to head back to Middle-earth?
Two new movies set in the fantastical realms of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” book collection are in growth, New Line and Warner Bros. declared Thursday. Director Peter Jackson and screenwriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who oversaw the blockbuster “Lord of the Rings” display trilogy in the early 2000s, will reunite to produce the pair of forthcoming movies.
“Lord of the Rings” alum Andy Serkis will star in and immediate the initial new movie, tentatively titled “The Hunt for Gollum.” In the original film series, Serkis lent his voice and executed the movement capture for the massive-eyed and scantily-clad titular creature. Walsh and Boyens will pen the screenplay with writers Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.
Serkis shared the information on Instagram, sharing a photograph of himself posing with his “Lord of the Rings” character. “We is baaaaak, Valuable!,” he captioned the picture. The “Rise of the World of the Apes” star said in a press launch that he is thrilled to reunite with Jackson, Walsh and Boyens, whom he named “incomparable guardians of Center Earth.”
“It’s just all also delectable,” he extra, immediately after teasing the franchise’s return to its New Zealand sets.
In a joint assertion, Jackson, Walsh and Boyens reciprocated the sentiment, noting “it is an honour and a privilege to vacation back to Center-earth with our excellent mate and collaborator” Serkis.
Warner Bros. Photos and New Line did not expose additional information about the second film.
The first “Lord of the Rings” trilogy in the early aughts was much more than a box-business office behemoth, it was also an awards-circuit marvel. The franchise received 30 Academy Award nominations across its 3 movies and took home 17 Oscars. At the 76th Academy Awards 20 decades in the past, “The Return of the King” received greatest image. Jackson acquired his first directing Oscar for the movie.
