Shane Warne’s family ‘disappointed’ over the inaccurate timeline of his marriage to Simone Callahan and steamy romance with Liz Hurley in Channel Nine’s miniseries Warnie
Shane Warne‘s family have once again expressed their disappointment over Channel Nine’s two-part controversial miniseries Warnie after the first part aired on Sunday night
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford said he spoke to the cricketer’s father Keith and he isn’t happy about the ‘inaccurate’ timeline of his son’s marriage to Simone Callahan and romance with Liz Hurley.
‘I took a call last night from Keith just before it went to air,’ he said on on 3AW radio.
‘Last week I reported that Keith and Shane’s brother Jason had gone in for a private screening of the miniseries and they were pleasantly surprised and they were quite happy with what they had seen.’
‘Now that is what I was told by people who were there. But talking to Keith last night he says that’s not an accurate description of their reaction to it.’

Peter said Keith believes his son’s growth from ‘a larrikin teenager to a mature adult’ wasn’t portrayed in the series.
‘He also feels there were some inaccuracies that didn’t reflect well on Shane. Such as the time he took up with Liz Hurley.’
‘Which is correct, but in the show it’s presented he did that during the time he was still married to Simone and Keith is quite adamant there was a distance between those two things happening.
‘He’s not angry, he’s just disappointed by the result.’

It comes after Shane’s ex-wife Simone slammed the timing of the miniseries.
The former WAG believes it’s too soon for a show about the late cricketer, who died suddenly from a heart attack aged just 52 on March 4, 2022 while on holiday in Thailand.
‘I haven’t wanted to read too much about it, but I think it’s a bit unkind and mean spirited to be honest,’ she told the Herald Sun.
The first half of Warnie aired on Sunday night and covered his early life and meteoric rise to fame as a prodigious cricketer.
Shane’s ex-wife Simone also slammed the timing of the miniseries by claiming it was too soon to be dramatising Shane’s life. Pictured with Shane in 2010
Shane is portrayed by Home and Away star Alex Williams, while Wentworth actress Marny Kennedy plays his ex-wife Simone Callahan.
Viewers tuning in were not impressed with what they saw, with many sharing their thoughts on Twitter.
‘Warnie series couldn’t better represent how trashy your brand is. Insult to the great man. Shame!’ wrote one person.
‘Cringe factor aside, this is just boring,’ tweeted another, while one more wrote, ‘This is putrid and getting worse…’
