The “Pitch Perfect” star, 44, said in a new interview that she does not believe sexuality need to come into participate in when actors are being cast in roles.
“I’ve undoubtedly explained a large amount of edgy jokes, and claimed them often in pretty general public areas like the BAFTAS,” Wilson reported on BBC Radio 4’s “Desert Island Discs” on Sunday.
“I really don’t feel there is a diverse common, it’s far more this issue about – if you are a thing then now you are authorized to joke about it. But if you are not [you can’t]. That’s variety of what’s at this time going on. So it is not truly gendered.”
Wilson ongoing: “I imagine that is difficult. It is heading into this territory of like expressing, ‘Well, only straight actors can enjoy straight roles and homosexual actors can play gay roles’, which I assume is overall nonsense.”
The actress, who came out in June 2022, included: “I assume you really should be equipped to perform any purpose that you want. But I often believe, in comedy, your career is to constantly flirt with that line of what is acceptable.”
“Sometimes you do step in excess of it, but at the finish of the day, you are trying to entertain folks,” Wilson stated. “If people today are just always currently being protected and protecting, you are not heading to get very good comedy from that.”
