Four months after their alleged backstage brawl, three-time Grammy nominee Offset and four-time Grammy nominee Quavo performed for the first time in a year to honor their late Migos bandmate Takeoff at Sunday’s BET Awards.
The Georgia natives walked on to the stage of LA’s Microsoft Theater to the sounds of Takeoff’s verse from Hotel Lobby, a track which appeared on his 2022 spin-off collaboration Unc & Phew with Quavo.
A single spotlight dramatically lit the space between 31-year-old Offset (born Kiari Cephus) and 32-year-old Quavo (born Quavious Marshall) where a projection of a NASA-style rocket stood in his place.
‘Do it for Take!’ the hip-hop stars yelled while pointing at the rocket lifting off.
The rocket was then replaced with a waving image of the two-time Grammy nominee (born Kirsnick Khari Ball) who died, at age 28, after being shot multiple times in the head and torso on November 1.
Settled their differences: Four months after their alleged backstage brawl, three-time Grammy nominee Offset (L) and four-time Grammy nominee Quavo (R) performed for the first time in a year to honor their late Migos bandmate Takeoff at Sunday’s BET Awards
Offset and Quavo then launched into Migos’ 2016 hit Bad and Boujee, which impressively topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017.
The Without You rapper rocked a black leather jacket emblazoned with the phrase ‘rocket power’ in honor of his real-life nephew.
And the Selling Crack rapper stopped cosplaying Michael Jackson for a night in favor of a slim-fitting black leather ensemble.
Numerous black-clad back-up dancers joined the hip-hop duo and their show added some substantial production value with lasers, smoke, and pyrotechnic special effects.
The talented twosome both shared their performance on their respective social media accounts with coordinating captions: ‘Do this s*** for the fam cuz this s*** bigger than me.’
Offset’s Grammy-winning wife Cardi B tweeted a crying meme captioned: ‘I can’t take it right now. Proud of the boys.’
The Bronx-born 30-year-old (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus) also Instastoried her live reaction: ‘Yeah n****s! Aaah! I’m going to cry! Wooo! Oh my god. Oh my god, I can’t breathe. I’m about to cry. I know they wanna cry. I know they wanna cry. Oh my god.’
It’s hard to believe the pair nearly came to blows backstage at LA’s Crypto.com Arena over Quavo’s Grammy Awards tribute performance to Takeoff on February 5.

The next morning, Offset took to Twitter to downplay the alleged brawl, writing: ‘What tf look like fighting my brother yal n****s is crazy.’
The father-of-five’s second studio album – dropping this summer – will feature Cardi, Chloe Bailey, Latto, Future, Travis Scott, and Takeoff.
‘It’s hard for me to talk about s*** right now,’ Offset admitted to Variety on May 24.
‘I’ve never talked about this stuff. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s*** is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That s*** hurts. Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood.
‘Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That s*** feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it.’
The rap stars’ reunion came a week after they met up at the Fourth Ward Park in Atlanta for a lantern ceremony on what would’ve been Takeoff’s 29th birthday.

Their in memoriam lantern read: ‘To those whose name has been extinguished, let this light represent our love and compassion. We will never forget you.’
In attendance was Takeoff’s mother Titania Davenport, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston on June 7 for failing to take appropriate security measures to protect guests – according to Rolling Stone.
On May 25, strip club promoter/DJ Patrick Xavier Clark was indicted by a Texas grand jury for murder for allegedly shooting a firearm into a crowd of 30 people partying and playing dice at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston.
Takeoff was an unarmed ‘innocent bystander’ and was not involved in the dice game or the arguments about basketball before 10 shots rang out from two different weapons.
22-year-old Cameron Isiah Joshua was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, and he was taken into custody on November 22.
Aside from Takeoff, two other people – 24-year-old Joshua ‘Wash’ Washington and a 23-year-old woman – were rushed to the hospital with ‘non-life-threatening injuries.’
Sunday night’s awards ceremony celebrating black excellence also included a Tina Turner tribute of her 1989 cover The Best performed by two-time Grammy winner Patti LaBelle, who struggled to read the lyrics off the monitor.
