Brittany Snow and Penn Badgley have hinted they may possibly not be returning for the sequel to 2006’s “John Tucker Must Die,” which is reportedly in growth.
On the July 4 episode of Badgley’s podcast, “Podcrushed,” the previous co-stars disclosed that they haven’t been approached to reprise their roles, Kate and Scott.
“Penn, I do not know if you’ve experienced a phone, but I’ve gotten no phone,” Snow, 38, remarked in reaction to queries about the sequel.
Badgley, 37, replied, “Yeah, I’ve experienced no connect with, no. I necessarily mean, it’s maybe achievable like the superposition quantum physics, like everything is perhaps within just the realm of, like, it’s possible this apple will tumble up, I in fact just cannot say with certainty.”
Fellow co-stars Jesse Metcalfe, Arielle Kebbel and Sophia Bush unveiled that there was a script for a probable sequel to the early 2000s rom com while reuniting at Epic Downsides Chicago in March.
Metcalfe, 45, read rumors about the screenplay for the second motion picture, but hadn’t go through it nonetheless.
“I’ve been hearing rumblings about this script circulating Hollywood — apparently it is amazing,” he stated at the time. “I’d undoubtedly like to be a part of it, and I can not wait around to go through it.”
“The rumor is accurate,” Kebbel, 39, confirmed. “I begun manufacturing a few yrs ago. There is a script. We are pretty proud of it. It does involve all of the OG cast.”
Bush, 41, in the meantime, said that she was “ready to go” to function on the venture, as well.
The primary film followed three superior faculty college students (Bush, Kebbel and Ashanti) who find out that they are all relationship John Tucker (Metcalfe). They then plan to plot their revenge and enlist Snow’s Kate to support.
On the “Podcrushed” episode, Snow admitted to getting out of the loop on recent developments, even with preceding discussions with Kebbel about the undertaking.
“I have been speaking to Arielle about this for a long time due to the fact she was attempting to get it off the floor, but I did not know what took place,” Snow explained. “And it variety of just, I was like, ‘Go forth with that.’ But so, that was the previous I had heard of it, was that she was attempting to make it happen. And so I guess she did? So, yeah, I will examine what ever people [send me]. They’ve labored definitely tough.”
Badgley questioned how his lesser job as John’s brother Scott in the primary film could aspect into a new storyline, but Snow insisted she couldn’t do it without having the actor who performed her appreciate desire.
The “Pitch Perfect” star laughed, “I’m not carrying out it if you’re not doing it.”
“Never have I even assumed of that as a prospective detail. But I guess if there was a script, I would examine it,” Badgley added.
Metcalfe expanded on the sequel’s storyline in an job interview with E! Information. He emphasised that the sequel highlights his character’s advancement and that the narrative is more “conscientious” than the original and “not rather as misogynistic.”
“My character has a good arc,” he reported in April. “John has a daughter, and, you know, you see how fearful he is that she’s gonna get John Tuckered.”
The movie has not been greenlit however, but the actor hopes the “very funny” script will help the venture get off the ground.
“Hopefully, that’ll drive it over the complete line,” he remarked. “We’re in a Y2K second right now, when nostalgia generally sells. So, I’m optimistic that the film will get designed.”
