Kevin McKeon, the vice president of Mattel Movies, advised The New Yorker in July 2023 that the movie will be “surrealistic” — and not meant for young children.
“We’re leaning into the millennial angst of the assets instead than fine-tuning this for young children. It is definitely a perform for adults,” he discussed. “Not that it’s R-rated, but it’ll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of currently being 30-a little something, growing up with Barney — just the degree of disenchantment within the era.”
McKeon additional that the movie will have “A24-type” vibes, referring to the unbiased amusement organization that’s made shows like Euphoria and movies like Every thing All over the place All At At the time, Midsommar and a lot more.
