Ice Spice set to make her acting debut… as the rapper lands a part in Spike Lee’s film High and Low alongside Denzel Washington

Ice Spice is set to make her acting debut in Spike Lee’s new film High and Low.

The 24-year-old rapper was announced on Wednesday as part of the cast, according to Variety.

She has already started filming for the project, per the outlet.

The movie marks her  acting debut, which will be alongside movie legend Denzel Washington. 

 The movie is an English-language interpretation of the Akira Kurosawa film High and Low, which was released in 1963.

The original film was based on the 1959 book King’s Ransom by Ed McBain.

It’s about a businessman who has to pay a ransom to kidnappers, leading him to ruin. 

The High and Low film is developed and produced by A24, Mandalay Pictures and Escape Artists, per the outlet.

The script was penned by Spike and Alan Fox. 

The movie is the fifth time Spike and Denzel have worked together. 

Apple Films tweeted a picture of them together in honor of the movie going into production.

They have previously worked on Inside Man in 2006,  Mo’ Better Blues, Malcom X and He Got Game. 

Ice Spice, born Isis Naija Gaston, became a household name after she appeared on PinkPantheress’ song Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2 in 2023.

Soon after, she released Princess Diana with Nicki Minaj and appeared on Taylor Swift’s remix of Karma.

She collaborated with Nicki again for Barbie World, for the Barbie the movie soundtrack.
