Live from Lincoln Center, it’s Broadway’s biggest night (of 2024, at least)!
The 77th Annual Tony Awards, which recognize excellence in Broadway theater, are set to begin in just a few hours.
The 2023-24 Broadway season was the most musical-heavy one in at least five years, with 21 musicals (16 new, 5 revival) opening between May 2023 and April 2024, but it’s a play that made history as nominations were announced.

“Stereophonic” by David Adjmi, about a fictional band facing pressure as they record their second album, became the most nominated play in the Tonys’ 77-year history with 13 nominations, including 5 acting nominations and nods in two categories that traditionally recognize musicals rather than plays. Alicia Keys’ semi-autobiographical musical “Hell’s Kitchen” tied “Stereophonic” for most nominations of the season, also netting 13.
It’s sure to be a star studded evening, with appearances by Jennifer Hudson, Angelina Jolie, and Jeffrey Wright and performances by the casts of nominated shows, including Eddie Redmayne in “Cabaret at the Kit Kat Klub” and Daniel Radcliffe in “Merrily We Roll Along.”
Though the Tony Awards air on CBS, it’s possible to stream the entire event for free without cable. Keep reading for your Tony Awards cheat sheet, including all of that free streaming info and more on nominees, performers, and presenters.
2024 Tony Awards time and date: When are the 2024 Tony Awards?
The 2024 Tony Awards are on Sunday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.
As it has happened the past few ceremonies, a 90-minute pre-show, “The Tony Awards: Act One” will air first, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET exclusively on Pluto TV.
How to watch the 2024 Tony Awards for free:
If you have traditional cable, the 2024 Tonys will air on CBS, as they do every year. All you’ll have to do at 8:00 p.m. tonight is flip the TV over to CBS.
If you don’t have cable, there’s still an easy and free way to stream the Tony Awards: Paramount+.
Paramount+ has two subscription plans, but to watch the Tonys, you’ll have to subscribe to the premium ‘Paramount+ with Showtime‘ plan, which comes with a seven-day free trial before $11.99/month payments begin.
So, there you have it: you can make a new Paramount+ account and watch the Tony Awards for free with it. Just remember to subscribe to Paramount+ with Showtime, as it’s the only one that includes your live, local CBS channel a.k.a. where the Tonys are airing.
As noted above, only the pre-show is airing on Pluto TV, a free streaming service that anyone can access without a subscription or account.
