“Home Alone” actor Ken Hudson Campbell is making progress in his road to recovery after being diagnosed with cancer in October 2023.
The 61-year-old shared photos of himself ringing the bell after completing radiation treatment on his GoFundMe page.
“You get to ring the bell when you’ve completed your course of radiation treatments. Six weeks, five times a week. 30 of ‘em!! Now I need a bucket of ice to stick my head into,” Campbell wrote. “I feel good. My leg has pretty much healed and I’m about to throw away the cane. Although it is a pretty good affectation.”
Campbell lost weight amid the process. In the update, the “Mike & Molly” actor thanked his children, Michaela and Richard Campbell, for helping him through his cancer battle.
“My beautiful daughter, Michaela, and her brother Richard (hunky) and Sweet Kathleen have been beyond helpful and patient. I can be a handful,” he continued. “I’ve also lost over 100 lbs. Last time I was under 200lbs. I was in high school! So there’s that. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and support!!!”
Michaela opened up in October 2023 about her father’s cancer battle after being diagnosed.
She said that the tumor had “elusively grown on the bottom of his mouth and it began encroaching on his teeth.”
The actor underwent a 10-hour surgery on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9, and according to Michaela, it was successful.
“The cancer was removed successfully, and his jaw bone has been reconstructed from his fibula and attached. Despite the swelling and incisions, he looks great,” Michaela wrote on the GoFundMe.
The GoFundMe page was created by Michaela to help raise money for dental implants, caregivers, medical equipment, and more.
On December 28, 2023, Michaela gave The Post an emotional update on her father’s health a few weeks after the surgery.
“My dad is healing very well,” Michaela said at the time. “He gets teary-eyed when he reads his friends’ and fans’ kind words. In this lifetime, most people don’t get to hear how much they mean to someone else or how their work resonates with people who have seen it.”
The actor’s friends, including Steve Carell, Jeff Garlin and Bill Prady, contributed to the GoFundMe. The page raised more than $180,000 by the end of last year.
“I’m so grateful to my many generous friends,” Campbell told the Post in December. “Some have given and given big.”
Carell donated $10,000 with a note saying: “‘Carriage ride!’ Love you Ken.”
Michaela also gave a nod to her father’s friends donations.
“It really means the world,” Michaela told People. “My family’s been struggling for a long time financially. So just having my dad’s friends come together, this is just very overwhelming and it really takes a lot of stress off of my family’s shoulders.”
In “Home Alone,” Campbell had a standout scene with Macaulay Culkin’s character, Kevin McCallister, where he nearly loses his fake Santa beard and is spotted smoking as he leaves work for the day. Campbell is also known for his roles in “Groundhog Day,” “Gravity Falls” and “Armageddon.”
