Is not it usually a slip-up when your tale begins with “This transpired to a _____ of a ______”? A good friend of a close friend? Not responsible! An ex of my cousin? Not! Dependable! And a friend of my sister? Glen Powell can now ensure this: not a reliable resource. Even though on the Therapuss podcast on May possibly 22, Powell shared a story that purportedly transpired to a friend of his sister’s (it did not). In it, the sister’s good friend goes on a day with a dude and goes back to his location. He asks if she desires a massage, and she agrees. “Everything just feels odd,” Powell suggests. “She’s like, I gotta get out of below. It’s a tiny bizarre, he’s like, ‘Please don’t go away.’ She leaves.” After some itching, she goes to the medical professional and learns that the lotion he put on her was a “black-industry lotion that breaks down pores and skin for human usage.” Yep, guy was a cannibal the police go to his apartment and discover numerous bodies. Or, at least, which is the tale. Turns out it is a piece of identified internet misinformation. Snopes even has a web site declaring it Untrue with major red cease indication.
Powell acknowledged his contribution to the unfold of misinformation on Twitter June 10. “Props to my tiny sister’s pal who advised her this courting story …” he wrote. “I’ve been telling this for several years. I’m questioning my full life now … Phony alarm.
