Ever detect Top rated Gun: Maverick is chock complete of nepo babies? Maverick’s father was a pilot, Rooster’s dad (spoiler) was a pilot, and even Penny’s dad was an admiral. And there was heading to be another 1 in advance of Glen Powell stepped in. The actor was presented the job of Hangman (soon after missing out on Rooster to Miles Teller), and he just about didn’t just take it since the character, at that level, was not excellent more than enough, for every British GQ. In the first script, Hangman was known as Slayer (lame) and he was each a nepo child and a bad pilot.

Luckily for Powell, Tom Cruise and director Joseph Kosinski were being amenable to his pink pen, earning him simply just a cocky jerkwad — not an untalented nepo-little one cocky jerkwad. “What we had been chatting about is, how can Hangman service the tale and give the taste of the unique Leading Gun that you will need?” Powell continued. If he had actually wanted to give the first Top Gun taste, he would have advocated for a lot more homoerotic locker-home scenes.
