The “Girl, Interrupted” established was “intimidating” for star Elisabeth Moss — specifically since there were Angelina Jolie vs. Winona Ryder “camps” even though filming.
The actress, 41, opened up about her knowledge on the 1999 drama though appearing on the “Let’s Communicate Off Digital camera With Kelly Ripa” podcast on Wednesday.
“My mother was however with me going to established. We have been taking pictures in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I was with all these film stars. It was Winona Ryder! And Angelina Jolie!” Moss recalled to host Kelly Ripa.
“There were two camps. There was the Winona Ryder camp and the Angelina Jolie camp,” she went on. “I was so intimidated by the Angelina Jolie camp. I had no ideas of ever staying in a position to be in that camp. It was so amazing. It was all the interesting women.”
The “Handmaid’s Tale” actress explained that the camps would break off “based on what was on camera,” and she finished up with Ryder, now 52.
The “Stranger Things” star and Jolie ended up in their mid-20s at the time and, for Moss, it was like “being dropped into The Wizard of Oz.”
Moss performed Polly in “Girl Interrupted,” a younger woman who was badly burned. Her prosthetics to get into character took “about a few hrs each and every morning” to do.
“I would forget about that I had [the prosthetics] on,” Moss told Ripa. “You wouldn’t consider it off at lunch or anything. I would go with Winona, for the reason that we grew to become form of good friends, I would go with her to the keep or something. People on set thought that that was essentially what I looked like.”
In simple fact, it took time for some crew users to recognize she was not a burn off sufferer in real existence.
“I wasn’t renowned. No person understood who I was. So the crew truly assumed, regrettably, that experienced really transpired to me,” she recalled. “It took a very long time for them to understand it was not genuine. They did these types of a excellent task.”
Moss would run into Jolie many years after filming wrapped. Even though it was “incredibly intimidating” on set, she known as Jolie, now 48, “lovely” when she just lately saw her.
“I by no means introduced it up,” she joked of maintaining the Jolie vs. Ryder camp principle to herself when she saw the Oscar winner. “I’m certain she would have no plan what I was conversing about anyway.”
