Britain’s Got Talent‘s Sydnie Christmas responded to ‘fix’ claims and teased the song she will sing for the semi-finals during an appearance on Lorraine on Monday.
The singer, 28, received the first golden buzzer of this year’s competition on Saturday with her rendition of Tomorrow which she told Lorraine was inspired by Celebrity Big Brother star Marisha Wallace.
Judge Amanda Holden did the honours and gold confetti fell on the stage to the joy of Sydnie and her grandmothers Maureen and Frieda, who joined her on Monday’s Lorraine.
Lorraine enquired of Sydnie: ‘You’ve been grafting away. You’ve done the cruise ships. You’ve been an understudy. You’ve never been on the West End, though?’
Sydnie let out an exasperated ‘No!’, this clearly not being the first time she had heard the question.

Lorraine enquired of Sydnie: ‘You’ve been grafting away. You’ve done the cruise ships. You’ve been an understudy. You’ve never been on the West End, though?’
Lorraine continued: ‘You’ve never done any of that. But you’ve always wanted to, this is your dream, isn’t?
Sydnie replied: ‘I just aspire to be a leading lady. That’s the dream, that’s the aim.’
The star has appeared in productions in Germany, as well as Lazarus at King’s Cross Theatre, which Lorraine went to, – but has never performed in the West End.
Sydnie said Lazarus ‘was the first and the last time I’ve worked in London’ and told Lorraine that she auditioned for BGT to ‘open a door’.
Lorraine also asked Sydnie’s grandmothers what they thought of her performance and one said: ‘I thought my heart was going to burst because we really never heard that version of her singing.’
They further explained that growing up Sydnie would sing ‘on the buses, at parties, and everywhere we went’.
Before they left, they congratulated Lorraine on becoming a first-time grandmother, and when she asked for tips told her to always be ready to talk.
Teasing her upcoming semi-final song, Sydnie told Lorraine: ‘Something came into my mind. I hope I do it I hope I don’t change my mind. It’s an old song, I think it will appeal to everybody.
‘I’m trying to put my own Sydnie kiss on it at the minute. I hope everyone likes it. Well, I’ll give it a go.’

It comes after fans took exception to the fact Sydnie received the Golden Buzzer, despite having performed all around the world.
Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to wrote: ‘Always good to see an underdog on @BGT like Sydnie Christmas. Jeez. A simple Google search… wtf!’; ‘Come on, Sydnie Christmas is already a professional’;
‘Sydnie Christmas has starred in Starlight Express in Bochum, Germany, and Lazarus at London’s King’s Cross Theatre. And starred as Rizzo in a Grease theatre show. No Newbie then’; ‘Sydnie Christmas, Starlight Express. Just a quick Google search’;
Their belief that this series is a fix intensified when head Simon Cowell told reporters that he believed she would win the competition.
