Britain’s Got Talent viewers threatened to switch off for good on Saturday after seeing Sven Smith’s audition.
The 27-year-old, from London, was seen miming playing a guitar to a medley of classic Queen hits and stripped off to reveal a glittering pair of trousers and tattooed chest as he ran frantically around the stage.
Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli all raved at the act, although Alesha Dixon pressed her buzzer and viewers at home seemed to be on her side.
One wrote on X: ‘If he gets through then this show has lost the 0.01% of credibility it had left #bgt #britainsgottalent.’
Another said: ‘This act might just be my final straw with this show #BGT.’
Britain’s Got Talent viewers threatened to switch off for good on Saturday after seeing Sven Smith’s audition
The London-based wannabe tricked the audience into thinking he was about to play the guitar but instead ran round the stage to a Queen medley and clambered upon the judges’ desk
Sven won the judge’s vote after former MisTeeq singer Alesha was the only one to want him off the show and he is now under consideration for the live semi-finals.
One angry viewer wrote: ‘He didn’t even do anything. He just ran about shaking his head and doing air guitar. That was completely pointless. Utter s***e! #bgt.’
A fourth said: ‘#BGT #BritainsGotTalent the word Talent is in the show’s title. I want my money back!
But it wasn’t all negative for the wannabe star, who tricked the audience into thinking he was actually a musician when he carried an empty guitar case onto the stage.
One person commented on the YouTube video: ‘I don’t know why but I actually liked this’ whilst another fan described him as ‘fire’.
As Queen hit Don’t Stop Me Now rang through the London Palladium, Sven raced through the audience and former West End star Amanda leapt up from her place at the table to dance.
Sven then clambered onto the judge’s desk where he was cheered on further by the judges and crowd.
As the audience cheered, she said: ‘There was a lot going on there, right there!’
Viewers were furious to see that a man had got through on Britain’s Got Talent for playing the air guitar
Sven claimed that he had been watching the show since he was little and getting the chance to enter was a dream come true
Just moments after beginning his act, Sven stripped off to reveal a shimmering bod suit and tattooed chest
Ant and Dec looked confused in the wings as they continued their presenting duties on the ITV1 programme
Judges Bruno Tonioli,Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell were impressed by the bizarre act but Alesha Dixon (secon left) was not
One viewer threatened that the act could be their ‘final straw’ with the long-running competition series
Simon said: ‘Let me tell you something. It was so stupid it was brilliant. It just really made me laugh!
‘I love the way you’re so surprised!’
Sven said: ‘I love Simon but I didn’t know if Simon would love me!’
He then claimed that if he were to win the show, his act would indeed be suitably to be performed in front of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Royal Variety Act.
