How to get Taylor Swift tickets if you missed out on a spot at one of her Sydney and Melbourne shows
Millions of Taylor Swift fans have spent hours trying to secure Eras tour tickets this week with some successful and others left scrambling.
Here’s how you can still secure tickets to the Eras tour.
Are Taylor Swift tickets sold out?
General admission tickets for the Sydney dates of Taylor Swift‘s Australian Eras tour sold out on Friday.
Only VIP and Hotel + Ticket Packages remain across all Sydney shows.
For Melbourne, another opportunity to purchase general admission tickets will open at 2pm.
Tickets will be available through the Ticketek website. Prices range between $79 and $379 or up to $1249 if Swifties want to splash out on a VIP package.
Up to 800,000 hopeful fans were in the online lounge hours before the Sydney general sale went live on Friday – with similar numbers expected for Melbourne. \
How to get tickets if you missed out
If you miss out during Friday’s general sale, your next option is to try and nab a ticket on a resale platform.
According to Frontier Touring, all Australian tickets will be suppressed for a week before the shows in an effort to prevent ticket scalping.
Ticket resale platform Viagogo has reportedly listed Australia Eras tour tickets for up to double what they should cost fans.
A Viagogo spokesperson confirmed the platform does not sell tickets, but is a ‘marketplace that connects ticket sellers with fans on an open, secure and transparent platform’.
‘In response to Victoria declaring the Taylor Swift tour a major event, we have taken the necessary measures to ensure our platform is in full compliance with federal and state law in Australia,’ the spokesperson told the ABC.
On Tuesday, the Victorian government declared the Eras tour a major event.
It is against the law to resell and advertise tickets to a declared major event at over 10 per cent of its original price.
Individuals can be fined $109,044 while companies can be fined $545,200.
The NSW government has pledged to crack down on ticket scalpers with Fair Trading this week reminding several online sales platforms like eBay, Ticketek and Gumtree of their obligation to protect consumers under current legislation.
