‘You are gangsters’: Robert De Niro clashes with pro-Trump protesters

NEW YORK — President Joe Biden’s campaign held a press meeting outside the house the Manhattan courtroom exactly where Donald Trump is on trial in his hush funds case, with actor Robert De Niro and two officers who defended the Capitol from the Jan. 6 mob in 2021 warning about the hazards of re-electing the former president.

“The Twin Towers fell just more than below, just above there. This aspect of the town was like a ghost town, but we vowed we would not permit terrorists to improve our way of lifetime. … I really like this city. I really don’t want to demolish it. Donald Trump needs to damage not only the town, but the country, and sooner or later he can wipe out the globe,” De Niro mentioned.

“I you should not signify to scare you. No, no, hold out — maybe I do mean to scare you,” De Niro ongoing. “If Trump returns to the White Household, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all get for granted. And elections — neglect about it. That is over, which is carried out. If he receives in, I can tell you proper now, he will hardly ever go away.”

Soon after the push convention, on the way back again to his vehicle, De Niro combined it up with some pro-Trump protesters, who yelled that he’s a “wannabe,” “paid market-out” to the Democratic National Committee, “nobody” and a “very little punk” whose “films suck.”

“You’re not heading to intimidate,” De Niro replied. “Which is what Trump does. … We are likely to battle again. We are striving to be gentlemen in this entire world, the Democrats. You are gangsters. You are gangsters!”

“You are washed up,” a protester yelled.

“F— you,” De Niro shot again.

The Trump campaign also experienced a push meeting mocking the Biden campaign’s enlistment of De Niro. Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt went after “elitist out-of-contact Hollywood actors like Robert De Niro who have no notion the true difficulties that individuals in this metropolis and throughout this place are struggling with.”

“The finest that Biden can do is roll out a washed-up actor,” Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller stated.

On Friday, the Biden marketing campaign produced a new advertisement featuring De Niro — who was nominated this calendar year for an Oscar for the motion picture “Killers of the Flower Moon” — that will air on tv and digital platforms throughout battleground states.

In the scuffle on Tuesday, there was at least one De Niro fan in the group who yelled out, “I loved you in ‘Taxi Driver’!”
