Prosecutors will go after the dying penalty versus the person charged in the quadruple murder of four Idaho school pupils, in accordance to courtroom files submitted Monday.
In the filing, the prosecuting lawyer for Latah County pointed to the “aggravating circumstances” in the Nov. 13 killings, describing them as “specifically heinous” and stating suspect Bryan Kohberger, 28, allegedly exhibited “utter disregard for human everyday living.”
“Therefore, considering all proof at this time recognized to the Point out, the State is compelled to file this see of intent to request the demise penalty,” the filing states.
Kohberger was arrested in December in the slayings of Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho.
Just after a grand jury indicted him in Might, he was arraigned on 4 counts of initially-degree murder and one depend of burglary.
He has pleaded not responsible.
In a June 22 filing, his attorney said there was “no relationship” among his customer and the four college students he is accused of fatally stabbing.
