A court in Moscow on Thursday upheld an earlier ruling to retain Evan Gerhskovich, a Wall Road Journal reporter arrested in Russia on espionage prices, in detention till late August, rejecting the journalist’s attraction.
U.S. citizen Gershkovich, 31, was arrested in late March while on a reporting vacation. A Moscow courtroom agreed past month to retain him in custody right up until Aug. 30. Defense lawyers challenged the conclusion, but the Moscow Metropolis Courtroom rejected the attraction on Thursday.
Gershkovich and his employer have denied he spied in Russia. The U.S. governing administration has declared him to be wrongfully detained and demanded his rapid release.
