ASPEN, Colo. — James Crown, a businessman and trustee of The Aspen Institute, died Sunday in a crash at a race track in Colorado, officials reported.
Crown turned 70 on Sunday.
Crown, who was chairman and CEO of Henry Crown and Enterprise, an financial commitment business, was at the Aspen Motorsports Park when he strike a barrier, the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office explained to The Aspen Situations. The office reported the crash had been considered an accident.
Jacob Crows, a spokesman for the family, mentioned in a statement Sunday night to the Aspen Day-to-day News: “The Crown family is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Jim Crown in an incident previously today. The loved ones requests that their privateness be respected at this difficult time. Additional facts regarding programs for a memorial to recall Jim’s extraordinary daily life will be produced at a later date.”
Crown served in leadership roles at a range of companies and establishments, like on the boards of JPMorgan and Typical Dynamics. He was also the running husband or wife of Aspen Snowboarding Co.
He was also chairman of The Aspen Institute, a nonprofit group that places on an yearly Ideas Fest each individual summer months, which started June 24 and operates via June 30. NBCUniversal News Team is the media partner of the Aspen Thoughts Festival.
Crown is survived by his wife Paula and their four young children.
