ANAHEIM, Calif. — Character and parade performers at Disneyland in California are formally unionized.
Federal labor officers explained Wednesday that they’ve licensed the final results of a 3-day election that took position before this month in Anaheim.
Actors’ Fairness Affiliation will depict about 1,700 performers and assistants who assistance provide Disney’s common characters to everyday living at its Southern California theme parks. The union currently signifies theatrical performers at Disney’s Florida parks.
Most of Disneyland’s other personnel in California — which include cleaning crews, pyrotechnic professionals and safety team — are now in labor unions.
Parade and character employees who promoted unionizing claimed they appreciate doing work at Disneyland to support create a magical practical experience for readers, but grew concerned about health and fitness and safety when they were questioned to resume hugging tourists following returning to get the job done in the pandemic. They named their union “Magic United.”
