On July 2 OIC Secretary General HE Hussain Brahim Taha convened a meeting of the Executive Committee of the organization. The meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the meeting, the general secretary of the organization said that this incident is very unfortunate on the first day of Bakri Eid when all Muslims were celebrating Eid. The secretary general of the organization has called the incident outside the central mosque in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, despicable.
57 Islamic countries are included in the organization
It was said on behalf of the General Secretary that burning copies of the Koran and insulting the Prophet Mohammed were not a common phenomenon of Islamophobia. This statement of OIC is being considered very important. Because this organization includes 57 Islamic countries. It is also considered the largest and most influential Islamic organization in the world. It includes countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Pakistan and Kuwait.
Countries including Iran and Turkey reacted strongly
After the incident of burning the copy of Quran, other Islamic countries including Iran and Turkey have reacted strongly to this incident. Turkey is already opposed to Sweden joining NATO and now this incident has made it more aggressive. Iran has also blamed the Swedish government for the incident and has refused to send its ambassador to Stockholm.
