Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is now active after the coup-like situation in Russia. He has called American President Joe Biden and discussed the issue in detail. The two discussed Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner Group, and his rebellious attitude. The White House has confirmed this by issuing an official statement.
After this conversation, Zelensky tweeted that, ‘There was a discussion with US President Joe Biden. The conversation was positive and inspiring. Discussed recent developments regarding the war between us as well as the events in Russia. The world must put pressure on Russia until the international order is restored. We also discussed defense cooperation in detail with an emphasis on long-range weapons.
Zelenskyy’s conversation with Joe Biden is important at this time as the world’s eyes are on the ongoing upheaval in Russia. In fact, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Russia’s private army Wagner Group, announced a violent coup. Prigozhin issued a statement via the official Telegram channel, saying, ‘There could be murder, so one side must understand the responsibility to prevent it. We are returning our convoy and going back to the field camp as planned.
Prigogine relapsed within 12 hours
However, an agreement was later reached between Yevgeny Prigozhin and Russia. Yevgeny, who talked about giving Russia a new president, was reversed in just 12 hours. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made a deal with Russia with Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin under which Prigozhin ordered his troops to withdraw.
Alexander Lukashenko moderated
Let us tell you that Putin’s friend and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko played an important role in ending this rebellion. Acting as a mediator, Lukashenko brokered a deal between Russia and Yevgeny after which he ordered his troops to withdraw. According to a statement issued by Lukashenko’s office, the talks also included continued engagement with Putin after which a deal could be agreed upon. Yevgeny will now live in Belarus. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Prigozhin would go to Belarus and the criminal case against him would be closed.
