Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures served up an extreme trailer Tuesday for “Challengers,” the upcoming sports drama starring Zendaya as a tennis prodigy-turned-coach.
Published by Justin Kuritzkes and directed by “Call Me By Your Name” filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, the movie also stars Mike Faist of “West Aspect Story” and Josh O’Connor of “The Crown” as Zendaya’s dueling onscreen enthusiasts.
The preview reintroduces the Emmy-profitable “Euphoria” star as Tashi Duncan, a young tennis champion who seemingly has it all — dollars, fame, trophies, a flashy brand deal with Adidas and a excellent recreation. At the peak of her early occupation, she captures the hearts of fellow tennis players Art (Faist) and Patrick (O’Connor), who fawn from the stands in excess of her impeccable approach.
Following suffering a profession-ending damage on the court, a developed-up Tashi begins coaching her husband, Artwork, as he prepares for a climactic match against her ex-boyfriend, Patrick.
The trailer — established to a spectacular remix of Rihanna‘s “S&M” — options a flurry of pictures of Zendaya very easily slicing, smashing, serving — each on and off the court — and seducing the levels of competition.
“You never know what tennis is,” Tashi suggests in the preview. “It’s a partnership.”
“Challengers” hits theaters Sept. 15.
