No sex, no problem.
Lenny Kravitz, 60, revealed that he’s celibate for “spiritual” reasons and hasn’t been in a serious relationship in nine years.
“I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live,” he told The Guardian in an interview published Thursday.
Kravitz was married to Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993.
They share one daughter, actress Zöe Kravitz.
The “Fly Away” singer previously spoke about his decision to be celibate in 2008.
At the time, Kravitz said he hadn’t had sex in three years.
“[It’s] just a promise I made until I get married,” he told Maxim. “Where I’m at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit. It usually trips them out, but that’s the way it’s going to be. I’m looking at the big picture.”
But in 2011, Kravitz told Details magazine that his comments about celibacy were “blown out of proportion.”
While he’s been single for nearly a decade, Kravitz told The Guardian that he’s proud of how good he looks at 60.
“I can barely believe it myself. But it’s beautiful,” he said. “It’s a combination of genes, self-care, hard work and discipline.”
The “Hunger Games” star explained how he maintains a healthy lifestyle, saying, “There’s a lot hard work and discipline. That means when I want to eat junk, I don’t do it.”
“Take last night,” he added. “I worked all day, interviews, rehearsing into the night, get home at 11pm. I need to eat something. Now it’s 1am. I didn’t get my workout. So I went to the gym and I did a 90-minute workout at 2am. I don’t want to be in the gym at 2am, but I know that I must.”
“Because it’s part of my discipline – it’s about body, mind and spirit. I want all of those three elements aligned. If my body’s in shape and my spirit and mind are not, then it’s just something nice to look at or to boast about. Who cares? For me, all of it has to be aligned. And I have to do the work it takes to have all of those in alignment so my being can be at its maximum.”
As for his love life, Kravitz has openly talked about how he still cares for his ex-wife.
After divorcing Kravitz in 1993, Bonet, 56, got married to Jason Momoa and they had two children together. They separated in January 2022 and divorced two years later.
In February, Kravitz told People he still has a “beautiful” relationship with Bonet.
“The love doesn’t leave you, but it has to find a new way to funnel itself into a new life,” he said. “We consciously wanted to do that.”
“It took time, believe me, but she is a part of my life that will never leave my heart, my soul or my spirit. I am what I am because of our experience.”
