- The reason Indian soldiers come to Maldives is to train the army
- Maldivian pilots could not get a license to fly it
- Pilots are not competent to fly India’s two helicopters and one Dornier aircraft
Maldives has been humiliated after withdrawing 76 Indian soldiers on the orders of President Mohammad Muizzou. Days after the withdrawal of Indian troops, Defense Minister Isaan Maumun has said that the country’s army does not have pilots capable of operating the planes donated by India. What is currently emerging is that the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) does not have pilots capable of flying the two helicopters and one Dornier aircraft received from India. A day before this, Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Zamir said that 76 Indian military personnel in the country have been replaced by civilian personnel sent by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
There are no pilots capable of flying planes
Isaan said that the Maldivian Army does not have any pilots capable of flying these planes. He said that during the previous governments some soldiers had started training to fly Dornier and two helicopters. For this the pilots have to go through various stages, but our soldiers could not complete it due to some reasons. Due to which our pilots could not get the license to fly it.
The lie of Muijju’s party was caught
At the same time, when Mohammad Muizzoo’s party was in opposition, he claimed that the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had pilots capable of flying these planes. However, now with this statement of his defense minister, his lie has been exposed. Military helicopters and Dornier aircraft donated by India are mainly operated for medical purposes.
When India gave aircraft?
It is worth mentioning that helicopters and Dornier aircraft from India were donated to Maldives during the government of former President Ibrahim Mohammad Solih during the government of former President Mohammad Nasheed and Abdullah Yameen. The main reason Indian soldiers came to Maldives was to train the army here.
Relations between the two countries are strained
The Maldivian government headed by Mohammad Muizzoo formally requested India to withdraw its troops. The withdrawal of Indian troops from the Maldives was also a major election campaign of Muizu’s party. Relations between the two countries have been strained since Mohamed Muizu took power.
